Dear Loving Friends,
I want to share a Scripture which God has impressed so strongly on my heart: “He who is generous will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor.” Proverbs 22:9 (New American Standard Bible)
I think that all of us appreciate the blessings which we receive on our journey through life. This scripture promises a definite blessing for all of us. I can assure you that God keeps His word, and is in debt to no person. Many of you have given freely of your finances to feed the poor in India, and I promise you on the authority of God’s Word that He will bless you in ways that only He can do. In your joys or in your pain, never forget that you are a “blessed” child of God, and that He filters what comes your way through His unfathomable love, mercy, and generosity.
There were very bad monsoon rains in India this past season. In the villages where I stay, most of the people live in mud huts. Mud is scraped from the bottom of the irrigation canals, and bricks are molded which dry in the tropical sun. The strong rains soften the mud, and when the walls crumble, the thatched roofs fall on the family. So many children get fevers and die. But now the rains have stopped, and we have been holding revival meetings at all of our Children’s Homes since the middle of January, and they will continue until the end of this month.
Please pray that many more Hindus will receive salvation through the message of Jesus and His love. We give out food to the poorest villagers, and this gives us opportunity to demonstrate love in action.
It has been such an honor for me to be a partner with you in feeding the hungry, rescuing suffering children from disease and death, supporting worthy evangelists, and caring for widows to enable them to carry the Gospel message to the villagers. Many of you have supported this ministry for over 30 years. I turned 72 last September, but retiring has never entered my mind. One of the hymns which we sang when I was a boy says, “We’ll work till Jesus comes, and we’ll be gathered Home.” I intend to continue my ministry until the Lord calls me home. I received word from America this week that two of our precious sponsors have passed on. This leaves a void in this ministry, and I ask you to pray that as the faithful warriors leave us, that replacements will enlist in God’s army. And I pray that you who remain will be kept safe and well, and that you can continue to be coworkers with me for the outreach in Asia, for many more years.
Please be assured that I pray for all of your needs, as I have done through the years. I pray for those of you that are getting on in years. Our precious family in India needs your love and support, so may God continue to strengthen you and prosper you, so you can continue for many more years.
